Baseball Stamps Plan to Inaugurate Twilight Games
CALGARY, Mon., April 5—(CP)—Calgary Stampeders, in an effort to boost attendances, plan to inaugurate twilight baseball when the Western International League schedule opens here next month.
The Stamps plan to start most of their games at 5 to avoid any conflict with the cool Calgar evenings.
Twilight games were the vogue during the 1920s, when a Calgary class C club set attendance records which still stand.
Stampeder officials also announced Monday they have scheduled six Sunday doubleheaders, at which a silver collection will be made, in a further effort to boost lagging gate receipts, and will form a booster club to sell membership for support of the Calgary club.
Stampeders’ financial status prompted doubts last week whether the club would re-enter the WIL.
Club president Bus Lacey said second baseman Don Hunter and catcher Don Bricker, holdovers from last year’s team, now have signed for another season. Third bagger Rocky Tedesco was being sought by Yakima Bears and would be probably signed by the Washington club. The Stamps are also counting on player help from the San Francisco Seals of the Coast League

Calgary Catcher Catches Bride
Engagement Of Ruth Aronstein To Donald Bricker Is Revealed

The engagement of Ruth Rita Aronstein to Donald Noel Bricker was revealed at a barbecue held in the home of Dr. and Mrs. Carl M. Secrest, with their daughter, Bonne, as the hostess.
Miss Aronstein is a kindergarten teacher in the Del Mar School, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Ernest Aronstein. Bricker, a former member of the Brooklyn Dodgers' squad, is taking training as a coach in the Fresno State College.
The couple are planning a November 21st wedding in the Aronstein home.
The guests at the Sunday night party learned of the betrothal when they, were served individual ice cream cups. On a second lid in each cup was an abstract drawing of a catcher's glove, guard and a baseball and the names of the couple.
Bricker is a senior in FSC and a member of the Varsity F. He attended the College of Sequoias and the Visalia High School. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bricker of that city.
Bricker was with the Brooklyn Dodgers in Vero Beach, Fla., last spring and then was sold to the Calgary Stampeders and with that club this season in the Western International League.
