Baseball Eskies Ink Veteran Players
EDMONTON, March 24— (CP) — The signing of Andy Skurski, 34-year-old centre fielder, was announced today by John Ducey, general manager of Edmonton Eskimos of the Western International Baseball League.
Skurski is the 15th player to ink a 1954 contract with Eskimos. It will be his second year with the club and his 12th in professional baseball. A right-hander, he hit .307 last year, including 11 home runs and 83 RBI’s.
Skurski joined Eskimos last spring from Colorado Springs of the Western Class “A” League. He was previously with Hollywood of the Pacific Coast League.
Eskimos commence spring training in Lindsay, Calif., April 1.
Meanwhile, John J. Conant, Jr., leading Western International League pitcher last year, Wednesday returned a signed 1954 contract to the Edmonton Eskimos, General Manager John Ducey announced.
