Hollingbery Gets Baseball Post
YAKIMA, Wash., Jan. 11 — Orin E. (Babe) Hollingbery, the former Washington State College football coach who now is a Yakima businessman, today was elected president of the newly formed Yakima Valley baseball club of the Western International League.
Hollingbery sold much of the stock through which public subscriptions are being raised to purchase the Yakima Western International League Baseball franchise, equipment and players from Frederick Mercy Jr. The fund-raising campaign has obtained the amount necessary to purchase the class A club from Mercy and only the details of the sale and final WIL approval remain to be worked out. Hollingbery formerly was part owner in the Wenatchee and Tri-City clubs in the WIL.
Lloyd Hammerstead, Yakima, a leader in the drive to have Yakima Valley fans buy stock for the purchase of the club franchise, was named vice president. Floyd Guenther, Yakima, was elected secretary-treasurer.
