Lewiston, This Bud’s For You

Caps Will Get Perez If Guldborg Behaves
[Vancouver Province, Jan. 6, 1954]
Manny Perez, Lewiston Broncs’ pitcher who shut out Vancouver Capilanos in last season’s WIL opener, won’t be given the chance this year.
General Manager Bill Brenner of the Caps has made a “conditional” deal to obtain the veteran pitcher who finished with a 12-12 record last season.
A report from Lewiston Tuesday said the Broncs are giving up Perez for another righthander, John (Bud) Guldborg, who started last season with the Caps but went home to California after compiling a 5-6 pitching mark.
But the trade is conditional on both pitchers reporting. There’s no worry about Perez, who told Brenner, his ex-Lewiston manager, that he wanted to play for him. But Guldborg, a temperamental soul, may not be partial to going to Lewiston.
