Baseball Gets Good Support at Edmonton
EDMONTON, Feb. 24—Edmonton will have a roofed grandstand for baseball games this season, first since fire destroyed the old one in 1949.
A contract to build a $141,911 roofed grandstand seating 2,000 fans at Renfrew Park, home of Edmonton Eskimos of the Western International League, was awarded by city council Monday. It will raise park seating capacity to 6,153 fans. It is expected to be completed by July.
Despite the handicap of having only bleacher seats last year, Eskimos led the WIL with a paid attendance of 93,325.
