Osborn Renamed Indians Manager
SPOKANE, Jan. 25 — Don Osborn announced Monday that he would return here to manage the Spokane Indians of the Western International League during the 1954 baseball season.
Osborn, who managed the Indians to victory in the second half of the 1953 WIL season and to victory over the Salem Senators in the post-season playoffs, will arrive in Spokane Thursday, and accompany owner Roy Hotchkiss to the WIL meeting in Lewiston over the weekend.
Hotchkiss has been strongly of favor of having Osborn back ever since the end of the 1953 season. But the final decision was up to the Philadelphia Phillies, with whom the 1954 Indians will have a solid working agreement under which the Phils will train and then will assign virtually all of the players for Spokane.
