Empire Games vs WIL

Schedule Change for Caps Talked
VANCOUVER, B. C., April 1 — British Empire Games officials will ask Mayor Fred Hume and City Council to back a written request to the Western International Baseball League about a schedule conflict.
Five Vancouver Capilanos home games are scheduled during the games here this summer July 30-Aug. 7.
“Professional baseball is the only sport which hasn’t cooperated with our request to refrain from scheduling fixtures during the games,” said Harold Merilees, chairman of a Wednesday executive meeting.
A games official said he had discussed the schedule switch with Tom English, president of the Capilanos. English said that when he suggested the switch he was out-voted by the other WIL clubs.
