Kewpie Dick Moves to Yakima

YAKIMA, Jan. 15 — Dick (Kewpie) Barrett, popular veteran Pacific Coast League hurler who also spent two seasons in a Yakima uniform, was named business manager of the Yakima Bears of the Western International League Friday.
His appointment was announced by Orin (Babe) Hollingbery, president of the board of directors of the newly-formed Yakima Valley Baseball Club, Inc.
Barrett, a former Coast Leaguer, previously saw service with the Yakima club. He spent the last few weeks of the 1953 with the Vancouver Capilanos.
The new group is taking over the WIL franchise formerly held by Frederick Mercy Jr.
