Esks Sign Trail Southpaw Star
EDMONTON, Jan. 12—Edmonton Eskimos of the Western International Baseball League has reached into Canadian spawning grounds for the first time by signing 22-year-old Pete Boisvert, brilliant southpaw pitcher with the Trail, B.C., Smoke Eaters.
Actually, Boisvert is the second Canadian to join Eskimos. Earlier, they purchased pitcher Art Worth, native of Victoria, from Spokane Indians of the WIL. But Boisvert hasn’t had any experience in organized baseball. The Trail chucker had a 19-4 record in 1953 after winning 14 games and losing three in 1952.
Boisvert appeared in Lethbridge last year with Spokane in the local Rotary Club’s two-day baseball tournament.
