Yakima’s WIL Bears Choose Lou Stringer
YAKIMA, Wash., Jan. 18—Lou Stringer, former major league and Pacific Coast League infielder, was picked Monday as playing manager of the Yakima Bears of the Western International League.
His appointment was announced by Orin (Babe) Hollingbery, president of the newly-created seven member board of directors of the reorganized club. The community-sponsored organization has acquired the club’s franchise from Fred Mercy, Jr.
Stringer, 35, managed the Hollywood Stars for a short time the summer of 1948 and was with the San Francisco Seals last year.
