Barton Signs as Broncs-Manager
LEWISTON, Idaho, Dec. 2 — Larry Barton, coach and first baseman for the 1953 Lewiston team of the Western International League, was named Wednesday as playing manager for the Broncs' 1954 team.
This was announced by Business Manager Tom Tabor.
Barton, 39, began his professional baseball career in 1932. He has spent ten seasons with four different clubs of the Coast League and has managed three Class C league teams, including the Pocatello 1950 club that took the Pioneer League pennant.
He played for the Spokane Indians in 1949. A former Pacific Coast League player, Baron was coach and first baseman for the Broncs in 1953.
As manager, he will replace Bill Brenner who resigned to become Vancouver general manager.
