Caps Want Perfect Game Artist

Brenner Seeks Ex-Lewiston Duo
[Vancouver Province, Oct. 7, 1953]
General manager Bill Brenner of the Vancouver Capilanos has taken time out from his commuting between Bellingham and Vancouver to write a letter which he hopes might pay off in manpower next spring.
Bill read in the paper that two youngsters who worked for him down in Lewiston this past summer had been recalled by Baltimore and ticketed for San Antonio of the Texas League next season.
Brenner is almost certain the pair, Al Heist and pitcher Russ Butler, won’t be interested in reporting to torrid old Texas next spring and he’s written to the proper authorities to say he’s interested in the duo if they’re available.
“It’s not likely anything will be done before the draft, though,” said Brenner Tuesday.
Heist, a speedy outfielder who hit .287 and led the WIL in triples (17), and Butler, whose 12-10 record included a perfect no-hit no-run game, were two of the league’s most promising rookies this summer.
